· Paper

· Click the Layout tab, then Margins. Be sure margins are set to Normal.

· From the Home tab, with all the text selected, change font to Times New Roman and font size is 12 point.

· Line Spacing – Double spaced with no extra spacing between paragraphs.

· With all the text selected, from the Home tab, click the Line Spacing  down arrow and select Line Spacing Options. Change spacing before and after to 0 pt. Change line spacing to Double. Click OK.

· Header – on right side of the header, place the Page Number

· Click the Insert tab, then select Page Number, then Top of Page, then click Plain Number 3.

· Cover Page – Press the [Enter] 3 times. Type in your title. Center and Bold your title.

· Press [Enter] 2 times and then type the following:

· Your name

· College Department Name, Baltimore City Community College

· Course Number: Course Title. For example, PSY 201: Educational Psychology

· Professor’s Name

· The date you turn in your paper

· In-Text Citations - Sources in your paper:

· For information taken word-for-word from a source, put the information in quotation marks. After the quote, in a set of parentheses, put the authors’ last name, publication year, plus information about the specific part (page number or paragraph number).

· Long Quotes - If a quotation is more than 40 words, make it block-quoted. Place the quote on a separate line, indent the quote by itself by ½ inch by selecting the text and clicking the increase indent button  once. After the quote, in a set of parentheses, put the authors’ last name, publication year, and page number.

· For information that is paraphrased, at the end of the sentence, in a set of parentheses, put the authors’ last name and year of publication. If quoting a specific part of a source, include information about the specific part (page number or paragraph number).

· Do not use quotation marks.

· The References page includes the full APA citation for each source you used in your paper.

· Center the word Reference at the top of the page and make it Bold.

· All sources are to be listed alphabetically and aligned to the left.

· If a source takes up more than one line, the subsequent line(s) must be indented by ½ an inch. This is called a hanging indent.

· Select (highlight) all your sources and on your keyboard, hold the Ctrl button and press the letter T (Ctrl + T).

· Do a Spelling/Grammar check.

· Click the Review tab, then click Spelling & Grammar.

· Save your work

· Click File, then Save As, then click Browse. When the Save As dialog box opens, select the location where you wish to save your work, give the document a file name and then click Save.
