FIRE FIGHT
A safe and secure environment is a prerequisite for effective teaching and learning. Thus
ensuring life safety of students, professors, teaching staffs and staff members during disasters
is very necessary
A fire occurs when the elements i.e. heat, fuel, oxygen and chemical chain reaction etc...
A fire can be stop or extinguished by removing any one of the elements fire to occur, heat, fuel oxygen, and a chemical chain reaction
CHARACTERISTICS OF FIRE

FIRE PREVENTION:
1.A fire can occur at any time. Therefore various measures are to be adopted in advance to
prevent a fire in your building. Some of the measures need to be adopted are given below:
2. Prohibit smoking in storage areas of flammable materials.
3.If electrical equipment is not working properly or if it gives off an unusual odour
disconnect the equipment and call the duty electrician.
4.Properly replace any electrical cord that is cracked or has broken connection.
5.When using extension cords, protect them from damage. Do not put them across
doorways or any place where they will be stepped on or chafed. Check the amperage
load specified by the manufacturer.
6.Do not plug an extension cord into another, and do not plug more than one extension
Fire Prevention in the Kitchen Area:
The most common offender for fire-related incidents in the workplace is the kitchen or cooking area of your workplace. It holds most of the appliances in your office and is also where employees' attention is most likely to stray.
Unplug all appliances after use. Yes, everything. It's the only way to be sure no electric current can travel or cause unwanted sparks. Make it the habit of all your employees to unplug items before leaving the cooking area.

Fire Warning
In almost all buildings, a suitable electrically operated fire warning system, with manual call points positioned both on exit routes and adjacent to final exits should be installed. This should have sufficient sounders for the warning to be clearly heard throughout the workplace. The sound used as a fire warning should be distinct from other sounds in the workplace and, where background noise levels are high or an employee has a hearing impairment, it may also be necessary to install a visual alarm such as a distinctive flashing or rotating light
