This reading and reflection paper aims to encourage you to build conceptual knowledge in order to analyze the contemporary global social issues in both historical and contemporary contexts. To write this paper, focus only on the course materials. You do NOT need to do any external research. In this paper, identify and explain key dominant ideological forces (e.g. (neo-)colonialism, imperialism, global capitalism, right-wing populism) and counter forces (e.g. anti- colonial/decolonial movement, justice globalism, reproductive justice movement) that we have covered in this course from topic 1 to 4. Discuss how these ideological forces have changed the global society, using specific historical and contemporary examples that we have covered in this course.
This reading and reflection paper covers topic 1, 2, 3 and 4. Demonstrate a strong understanding of the course materials (both lecture content [lecture ppt files & videos] and assigned readings from topic 1 to topic 4). Provide an introduction and conclusion. In-text citation (APA Style 7th edition) & bibliography is required when you address the assigned readings & lecture ppt files.
Required length: 1,000 (minimum) – 1,500 (maximum) excluding bibliography
Deadline: 11:55 pm on July 5th (Tuesday) via Moodle.
