Assessment Criteria

1.            Relevant literature identified and accurately summarised

 

2.            Clearly articulated research/evaluation question which is related to other research and the gap in the literature

 

3.            Logical and clear analysis plan or program logic/theory of change with relevant assumptions identified

-              The analysis plan describes how the data being used will help answer the research or evaluation question

-              Program logic/theory of change is clearly articulated and is related to the evaluation question

-              Range of assumptions identified and their implications discussed

4.            Range of relevant strengths and limitations of the data being used identified and their implications discussed

5.            Quality of analysis of data

-              Appropriate analysis methods used (these can be very simple (e.g. plotting the data) or quite sophisticated (e.g., regression modelling))

-              Analysis competently undertaken

6.            The findings present are reasonable and are related to the data analysis and potentially the literature review

7.            Relevant implications for policy raised and justified using analysis of data and potentially the literature review

8.            Interesting further research / policy evaluation questions recommended and which follow from the analysis presented it the paper

9.            Clarity of organisational structure, presentation and focus and appropriate and accurate use of sources
