PLEASE UPLOAD EACH ASSIGNMENT SEPARATELY

Assignment 1

This assignment will be the first that you will work on as part of a course project due in Unit VII. You will

work on this course project over the next six units. This project will begin with defining a learning goal

and end with developing an evaluation plan.

In this unit, you will develop the learning scenario on which you will base the next six weeks. This

learning scenario can be based on a past, current, or even fictitious experience. By developing your own

learning scenario, you get to tailor the assignments to your interests and experiences, so make your

choices based on your areas of expertise. Perhaps you are an exceptional runner and want to craft

instruction on how to train for a marathon. Or maybe you are hoping to create a scenario where you

and the rest of your HR peers will solve a training problem at your office. There are many possibilities,

but the most important thing will be to choose a scenario that is meaningful to you.

You will use the Dick and Carey model to carry out this scenario (which will be used for the next six

weeks). You will complete the following actions:

1) Describe the learning scenario in specific detail. Analyze the learning need, and explain how you

know it is a learning need.

2) Complete a needs assessment (you can use a decision tree, mind map, or flowchart).

3) Select the learning goals of the project.

4) Identify who the learners are (learner audience-learner personas) and analyze the goals in the

context of the skills to be used.

5) Write a goal statement.

Your paper should be a minimum of three pages and should include a minimum of two outside sources.

Adhere to APA Style when constructing this assignment, including in-text citations and references for all

sources that are used. Please note that no abstract is needed.

Assignment 2

Continue using your project scenario from Unit II, and identify and write your performance objectives.

As you consider the scenario and the goals and analysis completed in Unit II, you will:

1) briefly recap your scenario,

2) write at least three terminal objectives,

3) write at least two enabling objectives for each terminal objective,

4) and reflect on the process you chose to write these objectives and why you chose this process

with a minimum of 200 words.

Which of the processes or models from this unit did you utilize?

How does the process or model you have chosen best work for you in this situation?

This portion of your project should include a minimum of one outside resource (this can be your

textbook).

When writing your terminal and enabling objectives, you may use bullet points of different levels for

each type of objective, a table, or even a graphic image (you might use the SmartArt feature in Microsoft

Word, for instance) to illustrate the relationships between your objectives.

You are free to choose whichever format works best for your scenario and objectives. Adhere to APA

Style when creating your in-text citations and references for all outside sources that are used. Your

formatting, however, does not need to be in APA Style for this unit’s assignment.

Assignment 3

Course Project Design Project: Assessment Instruments

Now that you have identified the purpose, goals, and objectives for your project, it is time to consider

the assessment instruments. You will recall that objectives define the purpose of the course; these guide

the development of appropriate learning experiences and play a major role in assessment. What tool(s)

will you use to measure learner knowledge and skill?

When developing assessments, remember that they should:

1) measure attainment of the learning objectives,

2) measure the level of student success,

3) connect between the way students learn [the material] and the way students are tested,

4) should be varied,

5) and should include formal and informal evaluations. To complete this assignment: First, identify

what type(s) of assessment(s) best fit the project. Next, using the Dick and Carey five-step model

for creating an assessment:

a) identify the instrument(s) you will use to assess and measure student learning for this

project, and

b) develop an assessment that includes instructions and evaluation forms for the project.

6) Finally, create a design evaluation chart or evaluation rubric (for example, recreations from the

text will be provided) for the chosen assessments.

Your paper should be a minimum of three pages in length. Your paper should include a minimum of two

outside resources, one of which can include your textbook.

Assignment 4

Design Project: Instructional Strategies

This unit focused on learning strategies. Learning strategies are the components that engage learners.

There are many ways that instructional designers can engage the learner. This can be done through the

use of items such as discussions, interactive elements, group projects, relevant reading, and case

studies, to name a few.

Using your continued project scenario, think about what motivates the learner.

As you consider the instructional strategies for this project, remember that instructional strategies

should:

1) adapt to the needs and styles of each learner,

2) engage learners in the learning process,

3) encourage learners to be independent,

4) support learners in reaching the objectives,

5) and prepare learners to meet their goals.

For this step in the project, you will fill out each section of the Unit V Assignment Template (ATTACHED)

a) identify the instructional strategies to be used for this project,

b) explain why you chose these instructional strategies and how these engage and support the

c) learner, and complete the rubric for evaluating your instructional strategies.

This portion of your project should include a minimum of one outside resource (this can be your

textbook).

Adhere to APA Style when creating your in-text citations and references for all outside sources that are

used. Your formatting, however, does not need to be in APA Style for this unit’s assignment.

Assignment 5

Course Project Design Project: Instructional Materials

Instructional materials can be textual, graphic, or verbal and are used to guide, support, and clarify your

objectives. Instructional designers should aim to include a variety of instructional materials and

resources. This unit discussed an array of instructional materials that could be used.

Up to this point, you have completed a needs analysis, identified goals, created an assessment,

developed your instructional strategy, and now you will prepare the instructional materials.

Continuing with the project scenario, for this assignment, you will gather the instructional materials that

will be used in the instruction that you are designing. As you work through this assignment, consider the

following questions:

1) What will the learner read, explore, view, hear, experience, and/or create?

2) Who will create each of the instructional materials, or who has created the instructional

materials?

3) Do the instructional materials (planned or current) support the learning objective(s)? How so?

4) Do the learning materials encourage learner interaction and engagement? How so?

5) Are the instructional materials appropriate (given factors such as audience, learning context,

available technologies, etc.)?

6) What technical criteria will be required?

As you work through this assignment preparing and evaluating your learning materials, consider the

rubric provided by your textbook’s authors to help guide your choices. Using the Unit VI Project

template (ATTACHED), you will prepare at least three instructional materials. At least one of these must

be something that you (or you and your subject matter expert if you do not happen to be the developer

of the content) plan to create, and at least one must be pulled from an author or creator external to the

project (a textbook’s author or authors, a film director, a lecturer, a trainer, etc.). The creator of the

third resource (and any additional resources) you gather for your collection of instructional materials

will be up to you.

In the template linked above, you will completely fill out each table for each of the resources you

choose. Doing so will allow you to evaluate your choices as you assemble your materials. Once you have

completed filling out one table for each resource you have chosen (remember that there must be at

least three resources), follow up with a short reflection paragraph that delves into how you are feeling

about your choices now that you have finished this last portion of your design project. Are you happy

with your choices? Did any of the questions or prompts expose a potential problem in the materials? If

so, what was it?

Assignment 6

Course Project Design Project: Evaluation

This is the final component of the course project. You have completed the steps in designing a lesson

and incorporated the different phases of the systems approach model.

The final step of the systems approach model involves the evaluation of the learning materials. For this

assignment, you will develop an evaluation plan to include both a formative and summative evaluation.

In your evaluation plan, you will outline the details surrounding your planned evaluation.

For both your formative and summative evaluation plans, include the details below.

1) How many phases will this evaluation have?

2) What do you anticipate that the timeline will be?

3) Who will be evaluating your lesson/training? Describe demographic and relevant characteristics

of this person or group of people.

4) In what setting will the evaluation take place?

5) Which evaluation types, instruments, procedures, and personnel will be used?

6) If interviews or surveys are utilized, identify the questions that will be asked. You will want to

look to the frameworks and examples from your textbook in Chapters 11 and 13 to guide the

creation of your questions.

Be sure to include information about your decision-making processes throughout your evaluation plans

as well. In other words, provide the details of your evaluations, and then explain why you made each

decision or why it is best for your specific project.

Assignment 7

Reflection Paper Critiquing the Systems Approach to Designing Instruction

Throughout this course, you have learned about the various instructional design models with a specific

focus on the Dick and Carey model (or systems approach model) for designing instruction. You have

used this model in the creation of your course design project.

For this assignment, based on the activities you have completed over the past several units, reflect on

your knowledge and understanding of instructional systems design. In your reflection, include:

1) a brief discussion of your understanding of instructional systems design (you may include the

various models discussed in this course here),

2) an outline of the systems approach model as it applied to your project (i.e., outline the steps

you took based on the specific model we used for our project), and

3) a critique of the systems approach to instructional design

a) What worked well for you?

b) What do you feel needs improvement or changing? Would you add any additional steps

in the process? Would you remove anything from the process? Explain why you would

make such changes (or why you would not want to change anything).

c) How can you use this knowledge moving forward in your career as an instructional

designer?
