Research and write a report on a biological or chemical weapon, such as anthrax or nerve gas. How would such a weapon be delivered? How serious a threat is this weapon? If an enemy of the United States were producing such a weapon, what should be the response of the American government?

Nerve gas is, also known as Sarin, is a human-made chemical weapon that is the most toxic and rapid-acting chemical warfare agent. If the nerve gas is inhaled or a single droplet of the gas comes in contact with the skin, it is absorbed into the bloodstream (Guria et al., 2020). The absorption into the bloodstream leads to paralyzing the nervous system, resulting in respiratory failure and instant death. 

 Nerve gas, a chemical weapon, can be delivered using various mechanisms such as landmines, rocket ballistic missiles, and motors.  For instance, if the nerve chemical weapon is delivered through a ballistic missile, the chemical is carried by a filled tank. An airburst is utilized to disperse the chemical agent over a large area (Guria, et al., 2020).  As a chemical weapon, nerve gas is a threat in that if the chemical agent comes in contact with the skin, it causes large and usually life-threatening skin blisters that resemble severe burns. If it comes in contact with the eyes, it causes blindness. If inhaled, it permanently damages the respiratory system since it paralyzes the nervous system and causes immediate death (Guria, et al., 2020).  If an enemy of the US were producing the nerve gas, the response of the American government by investigating the alleged production of the weapon (Brooks et al., 2018).  After the investigation has been carried out, the Director-General provides emergency assistance to ensure that the threat has been neutralized to avoid any attack.
