Factitious Disorder-people with this disorder deceives others that they feel sick by intentionally getting sick or by self-injury.
Step-by-step explanation
Factitious Disorder-people with this disorder deceives others that they feel sick by intentionally getting sick or by self-injury. The physical symptoms of this disorder maybe self-inflicted or exaggeration of his/her preexisting physical condition. When asked about their medical history, they dramatically describe it but when asked for an in-depth information about their medical history, they give vague answers. Another characteristic of people with this disorder is their wide knowledge about medical terms and hospital routine. For example, the person with factitious disorder is hospitalized, he would demand attention from the staff but will not follow hospital regulations. If the doctor advised them that their medical problem is not serious, they will insist that they are suffering from a serious disease and would want to undergo painful testing or treatment, even surgery. They may suffer from real medical problems, for example the unnecessary surgery might scar their tissues, formation of abscesses due to numerous injections or may develop adserve reactions to medications. When the doctors explain to them with evidences that all the symptoms they are feeling are just fictitious, they will normally deny the accusations and rapidly discharge themselves from the hospital. Then, they will likely transfer to another hospital at that same day. People with this disorder are aware of the risks involved including injury or even death because of self-harm or the kind of treatment they wanted, but they do not have any control of their behaviors and most of them refuse or deny help especially psychiatric help, even with hard proof evidences of their behaviors.
