This week we are learning about how to modify recipes to make them healthier. There are numerous ways that you can make a unhealthy recipe more healthy including those used in baking and cooking. Watch or read one of the articles or videos from the list below. Select at least two healthy recipe substitutions and discuss how they can be used when making recipe modification. Be sure to include the ingredient that is being substituted and the new ingredient including specific amounts, as well as any special preparation directions. (For example, for every egg that is required in the cookie recipe, replace it with half a mashed banana. Make sure that the banana is ripe and you mash it thoroughly with a fork to make sure that there are no lumps.) Discuss how the nutritional content of the recipe will be changed: What specific nutrients will be affected by this modification? What is the reason for the change? Do you think it will meet the goal?
