How should I respond

According to the text, A useful theory is a theory that continues to produce hypotheses. The hypotheses then produce testable data which feeds back into the theory. Once a theory can no longer generate any hypotheses it is no longer useful.

A theory is created mostly by observation. This observation must then produce hypotheses that the the theorist can test.

The difference between a theory and an idea is that the theory has been through scientific testing while an idea has not.

I was extremely interested in the section of dimensions for a concept of humanity. It is really interesting that although each dimension is different, they all play into the other. I felt that determinism verses free choice was generally the same as conscious verses unconscious. The conscious part suggests or asks us if our behaviors are something that we are choosing. Are we putting thought into how we behave and how we react to situations. The unconscious part of the dimensions suggests or asks if our behavior or reactions are unconscious. Do we simply react in a predetermined way that happens so naturally we are unaware of it? I really had to think and evaluate my own behaviors and reactions. I feel as though both dimensions hold true for me. I found that sometimes I behave and react without thought as though it were an unconscious behavior. I have noticed that sometimes after I behave or react in unconscious way, I am able to after the fact evaluate the reaction or behavior. The ability to evaluate leads to conscious behaviors. I then watch my behavior in awareness in the moment and purposefully with conscious, behave and react differently. I think this dimension shows that our personality can be created from both conscious and unconscious behaviors and that conscious behaviors can become habit becoming unconscious.
