There is a patient in the NCU that was born at 37 weeks' gestation who was born to a mother who currently uses marijuana and cocaine. Patient displayed sign of neonatal abstinence syndrome. Patient was placed on the lowest dose of morphine and has to be increase over time to the highest dose and then clonidine was added to help with withdrawal symptoms. patient was discharged after 3 weeks on clonidine.
