The Script for the presentation :
Introduction:
I will be talking about misinformation regarding covid. As we all know, Covid-19 was introduced to us back in 2020 and has impacted individuals worldwide. With that being said, we are also in a very high-tech time and some misinformation do travel throughout different media sources in which we have to combat that by being literate in dissecting misinformation.
Slide:2
So, my research question is What effect did misinformation about Covid through different media outputs have on the people who read and follow the outbreak on a day-to-day basis? Meaning how did fake information effect individuals who kept up with the news and it's safe to say that everyone had some sort of contact with either social media, news, or even person to person news.
Slide:3
Which brings me to the question, why is it important? As I said, there are different types of media other than the news, such as person to person, community websites, and the vast array of social media. It is important to healthcare workers as well as they are the frontlines in helping people who have Covid. They rely on information given to them to help aid during these times.

With all the media I mentioned, I will be focusing more so on TV news media as they are available to almost everyone and can be found anywhere. In research done by Palosky, they talked about the different news broadcasters and the truthfulness of their statements and how many statements they say that are false. Stojanovska-Stefanova source aids Palosky's source by showning how news media can combat fake news by doing research in which we, regular civilians, can apply to our daily lives. Think of it as our own news broadcast and we are making sure our audience gets the right facts.

The effect of misinformation. I talked about why it is important and the ways it travels, but now I will talk about the effects of misinformation. The best website for medical related questions would be the CDC where they talk about the different fallacies used by false information and gives aid to dissecting false statements. An interesting group of people, who are more referred to as anti-vaccine people, have helped spread false statements online. In a study by Schoch-Spana, anti-vax people are a big factor in the false news spread which follows through with Nelsons study of how Fear further aids the spread. Fear plays a big factor as it attacks our mental state and leads us to further believe the false statement.
Slide:6
In conclusion, misinformation and covid is all around us and it is our duty to be aware of these false statements to help everyone's information literacy. From different types of media to hearing it from a friend, Information spreads in many ways and has affected many
people. Misinformation plays a crucial role in the spread of news and the spread of fear that can engulf one's mind further scattering false statements.
