Instructions:
On the next tab is a table of data regarding the vacation time for seven fictional employees.
Step 1: calculate how much vacation time each employee will carry over to pay period 1 of the next year.
Step 2: Prepare a pivot table report by the department that lists the names of the employees and the number of days of vacation time each will carry forward.
Step 3: Prepare an example of an email you would write to the employee explaining how their carry-forward vacation time was calculated.
Notes:
1 There are 26 pay periods in the year.
2 All employees have a usual work week of 5 days.
3 Vacation pay accrued to date is net of vacation time already taken this year.
4 Employees will continue to be employed for the 6 remaining pay periods in the year (there are no unpaid leaves or planned terminations)
5 The payroll system does not track vacation accruals in terms of days, only dollars, so dollar value is what the employee sees on their pay statements.
6 Employees are not permitted to carry over more than 10 days.
