How to respond to this response?

The most important takeaway I got from this week's material was the importance of establishing a connection between public health practitioners and the food systems, ensuring that the agenda of those in rural sectors are heard too. Although reading through the articles is like common sense, it's astounding to see that there is little interaction between those writing the policies and those experiencing them. It feels like the true priorities are never prioritized; instead, it's all about what's currently trending or how to appease the public, aka the rich.

Something I learned that I didn't know before was the amount of consideration that when into whole, minimally processed foods. I always knew that processed food was bad and that one should try and go organic and whole. However, I didn't know that seed and cultivar selection was a factor that one had to account for. Growing practices and harvest/postharvest handling allows for convenience and efficiency but can result in lower levels of vitamins and phytonutrients.

A topic I would want to advocate for is child food marketing, something we covered last week. It's a topic that I think is extremely relevant in our lives with how much we are using technology, and it's easy to identify the issues. These collaborations with big companies and characters to better entice a child are for the sake of money, as they wish to attract a large population of kids and convince them that their product is needed. Considering how influential youth are and how social media has turned the tide on certain topics, I would want to see campaigns or influencers creating videos that show why such marketing tactics are frowned upon. Maybe allowing collaboration with healthier food options and making that something trendy, can be another method of acquiring a kid's interest, and ensuring that their interests are used on food better for their health.
