We consider a metal sphere with radius a = 6.0 cm. If the potential
V0 = 24.5 V is applied to the sphere, the electric field at the surface of the sphere is given by E0 = V0/a.
a) Find the electric energy density at the surface of the metal sphere!
b) We apply a time-varying potential V (t) = V0 cos(ωt) [that is, an AC-current just as in our houses]. As a result, the sphere acts as an antenna and emits electromagnetic waves with maximum electric field E0. Find the intensity of the electromagnetic radiation!
c) Find the power of the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the metal sphere! d) The power radiated by the antenna can be treated analogously to the power dissipated by a resistor.
Find the radiative resistance of the metal sphere!
