2)Tetanus, also known as lockjaw, is a disease caused by Clostridium tetani. Much like botulinum toxin, the toxin produced by C. tetani interferes with muscle contractions. Where botulism results in inability to contract, C. tetani toxins cause muscle spasms and painful contractions that can last minutes. Other symptoms are stiffness and rigidity of muscles. Using your knowledge of how muscles contract what could be going wrong with muscle contraction signaling to cause these symptoms?
