1)The current event assignment will be posted in the "Assignments" tab when it is assigned. The topic for the current event will be listed with the assignment. Each student is required to review current event articles from a search engine such as Google, a newspaper, a magazine, a trade journal, web site etc., which pertains to the hospitality industry. Students should choose a current event article that they feel would be relevant for discussion in class. Online resources can be used. a. You must include the exact site where I can locate and read the article. It is acceptable to copy and paste the article into your assignment for reference purposes or just include the web address. If you use a non-internet source you will need to scan the article and submit it with your current event assignment. 2. The topic should be analyzed in terms of the following questions: a. A summary of the article and your opinion. b. What impact does this event have on the event planning and catering industry? c. How is this event important to manager's in the event planning and catering industry? d. If you were a manager, would your behavior change as a result of having this information? e. What other changes do you believe will occur as a result of this event? 3. Each student will be asked to synopsis of the article that includes where the article can be viewed. The synopsis must address all questions indicated above. 4. Current Events in essay form, do not use the question/answer format or you will not receive credit.
