Income inequality is a serious problem in America because it creates a political, social, and economic divide between people with different incomes. The income of the people will be their key to access the opportunities in the society. Thus, the better the income, the better the opportunities and standards of living people have, as opposed to people with low incomes. With this, the government should address this issue by going back to the roots of the inequality — poverty, inaccessible of education, the lack of inclusion in job standards, and other factors that prevent people to access better job opportunities.

It is a reality that income determines the access of people to opportunities like better health care, education, leisure, and among others. When there is an inequality among the income of people, there would also be inequality in the political, social, and economic aspects of the society. But it is also a reality that inequality based on incomes will always be evident because the different jobs have different standards, efforts, and qualifications. Let's say, a doctor who studied for almost 10 years and is required to save the lives of the people will always have a better income compared to janitors who aren't required to be educated nor equate to the job requirement of the doctor. The society have already established these standards and this is what we call as the 'social valuing' of jobs. One job has a better social and economic value than the other job. Thus, income inequality will never be abolished. Rather, the government should go back to the roots of the problem and provide better paying jobs to the citizens of America.
