Answer:

“A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.” said Bruce Lee, one of the best martial artist turned actor of all times. The goal is basically the end result which we wish to reach, it can be to complete post-graduation by the age of 24, it can be getting married by the age of 28, buying a car in the next six months. Depending on the age, situation, circumstances the goals may be broadly divided into short term and long term goals. The short term goals are usually the ones which we have deadlines less than a year and the long term ones are the ones which take longer time. These classifications of short term and long term also varies from goal to goal. Buying a house in two years is a short term goal, whereas buying a bicycle in two years is a long term goal. Let us take a few life situations and list out the various probable short and long term goals:

1. Academics:

Short term goals will include having to clear the arrears within the next semester for which I will have to go for private tuitions or attend online classes which may cost me extra money which I will have to get by doing part-time job at the local shop. I can even lend money from my uncle for the time being and pay my tuition and later pay him off during the summer break when I will be doing some summer job.

Another short term goal will be putting up my assignments on time so that I will not burdened at the end of the semester while I will already be busy studying for my exams.

Long term goals are to complete my Graduation by June 2021 and then take up Post graduation in Bussiness Administration, for which if I do summer internships in some corporate company will be an added advantage. For completing the Graduation on time I will have to give up on some extracurricular activities, which may deviate me off the academics.

2. Career Preparation:

Career Preparation includes in the short term, involves learning about how business is done at various levels. As I have limited access to big corporates, I will start form local mechanic shops and petrol bunks, who will be happy to share with me a few ideas for some weekend help I offer them. Then, later on, I will help uncle in his business by delivering his orders which will add to my contacts and my communication skills will also improve.

Long term goal is to do my masters in Business Administration and start a firm of my own. The firm will be joined in a partnership and later on will be listed in the wall street market.

3. Family:

Short term goals regarding family is to help grandma to the church on every Sunday and to spend more time with family

Long term goals involve getting married by 2025 and to have a child by 2030

4. Hobbies:

Cycling was a long lost hobby and photography also I miss these days. I have to start with my new bicycle and stop using car whenever possible so that it is beneficial both to the environment and my pocket.

Long term goals for hobbies is to do a brevet and become a Super Randonneur by 2022 and have a photo exhibition of my clicks.
