How would Conflict Theory explain the recent scandal involving Hollywood celebrities engaging in bribery to get their children admitted into Ivy League universities?

Actresses, business leaders and other wealthy parents charged In U.S with college entry fraud, some wealthy parents channelled huge some of money to elite universities coaches in an effort to get their children enrolled.

Step-by-step explanation

According to Marx and Engels 1848(community manifesto) they argued that how the society turned out to be hitherto, was due to class struggles. Conflict theorists are convinced that power is the main driving force in the society. The dominant group is more powerful due to accumulation of socioeconomic resources, more importantly according to Marx, they own means of production (factories, land, machines, raw materials etc). The subordinate group have less power because they have less socioeconomic resources (wealth, education, low income etc). Marx is totally convinced that the dominant group will continue to dominate while the subordinate group will deteriorate with poverty. In other words, the rich get more wealthier while the poor perish under impoverished conditions.

The wealthy parents know this fact well because they have experienced it, they want their children to be competitive than others, they want them to have a competitive advantage by taking them to Elite universities that are fully equipped. These universities have the best coaches and high performance equipments that can catapult students to the top, other universities are underequiped and barely nurture student talents.
