As it says on p. 132, in 1988, in Cook County (Chicago), there were 24,390 cases and 56,204 charges heard by only 32 judges. The Chicago Police Department said that in 2019, the city had 762 murders, 3,550 shooting incidents and 4,331 shooting victims. The first half of 2020 had 335 murders, up from 244 in the first half of2019. Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the U.S., but we have all heard of their major issues with crime in the past year. My point is that, sadly, it seems to be a part of their culture. Now, we look at it as it relates to these two boys and their family.
