We will understand various environmental problems one by one that is affecting people across the globe.
Step-by-step explanation
Environmental problems : The harmful impact of any human activity on the environment covers under the environmental problems. Both the biological and physical aspects of environment are covered under this. Every human activity has two aspect. One aspect is that it brings the development and another aspect is that along with the development it has detrimental effects as well. There are various problems that related to our surroundings. These environmental problems are global problems that need to be addressed by every country in order to preserve the environment. Let us see some of them in detail.
- Air pollution and climate change : The presence of harmful pollutants in the air constitute the term air pollution. Air pollution is caused by emissions of vehicles, power plants, industry wastage, etc but along with these methane and other gases from the landfills and animal agriculture also contribute to this air pollution. Burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, industrial activities has increased the content of carbon in the air to a great extent which is hazardous for human beings all over the world. It is not just the big companies that are responsible for such pollution but we as consumers are also responsible for air pollution. The presence of these harmful gases has not only changed the climate but also endanger the health of mankind.
- Deforestation : It is another environmental issue that impact the people globally. Deforestation refers to the clearing of the trees for deliberate or natural reasons. It is occurring at an alarming rate over the globe. For carrying out the activities of animal agriculture, mining, drilling, etc deforestation is taking place. Forests are cut down to grow the palm tress, the oil of which is massively used in processed food, soaps, and cleaning products. There are serious problems that are being caused by the deforestation like increased greenhouse effect, soil erosion, loss of habitat, flooding, destruction of homelands, etc.
- Wildlife conservation : We know that many wildlife animals are at the verge of extinction so conservation of wildlife is more important than ever. Due to various reasons like habitat loss, diseases, invasive predatory species, etc wildlife population has been declining at a fast speed. These wildlife species not only deserve to live but they also provide useful products to the humans. It is vital for the ecosystem to preserve the biodiversity. Every species has a job to do that make a significant difference in the ecosystem, no matter how big or small his job is.
- Overpopulation : Growing population has always been a concern for various governments. Population is increasing at a fast speed as compared to the growth of resources. This population growth is sue to many reasons like increase in survival rate of mothers and children, availability of life saving vaccines and machines, nutritious food, longer life spans, etc. All these factors contribute to population growth. But a growing population puts more strain on the natural resources so that they could meet the required demand. It is being expected that by the year2050, the growth will be 9.7 billion. Shortage of resources cause a problem for such growing population.
- Water pollution : Water pollution is caused by the pollutants that are found in the lake, ponds, rivers, oceans, human water system that contain various harmful components. When the toxic materials does not disposed off properly and mixed with water then it create the problem of water pollution for the people. Many industries throw the waste generated from the operations in the oceans which is ruining the aquatic life. Human sewage, accidental oil spills, sediments from soil erosion are the causes of water pollution. Synthetic hormones, antibiotics, and other medications often end up in water, that have harmful to the marine life and to such animals that are exposed to such dangers.
- Unsustainable waste generation : We humans generate waste at a large scale. We don't think about the life cycle of the product. We just consume and throw. There is a little effort given to recycling of a product. We consume and produce at incredible rate by making the hyper use of natural resources. This hyper consumption leaves such trash that is nonbiodegradable which makes it difficult to dispose them completely. There are many things in our homes that will take dozen of years to degrade. We need to consider our purchases carefully.
So in this way there are various environmental problems that are faced by the people globally and that need to be addressed. We as human beings can not ignore these environmental problems. The resources needs to be preserved and used in the right manner. Many responsible companies could drive the way to greater sustainability with responsible resource management and transparent manufacturing practices. We as consumers should avoid buying such products that are harmful for the environment. A small change in our behavior towards our environment could make a big difference to this situation.
