Build an automatic light (LED) that could be used as a backlight for your

notebook keyboard. The automatic light should continuously grow brighter as the room gets

darker, so you don't have to adjust your backlight as you transition from light to dark rooms.

1.) Build a circuit that measures light level using the LDR.

2.) Use the characterized LDR circuit from previous labs

? Dark output voltage

? Light output voltage

3.) Use an LED output circuit from previous labs

? Turn on Voltage (for zero light)

? Voltage for low, medium, and high brightness

4.) Solve for the DC transfer function that will convert the LDR input voltage to an LED

output voltage

5.) Design an op-amp circuit to implement this transfer function

Please show circuit schematic, that is all I really need. I have built a circuit but it is working as a switch, so it is not gradual. When I cover the LDR the led turns on, but it is not gradual.

When light on LDR decreases, it's resistance will increase. So voltage drop across 1k ohm resistor will decrease. Therefore V1 will decrease and the difference of voltages (V2-V1) will increase. So output of opamp will increase and LED glows brighter.
