Zappos faces some challenges that are threatening its process of maintaining a competitive position in the retail market. one challenge is the global economic and financial recessions which facilitated the downsizing of their employees to maintain competitiveness in the market. another challenge concerns acquisition in that amazon has acquire the firm. According to Bratton and Gold (2012), the human resource managers should ensure employees are psychologically prepared when an organization makes losses following a recession. That includes holding meetings and discussing uncertainties and the best approach to address the challenges. Zappos may have attempted to handle the situation, but it needed to make some initial preparations that would get employees ready for the oncoming change.
