Young's used very fine slits for his experiment, which were smaller than the wavelength of the light coming on the slits. The slits were able to diffract the light and when they reaches the screen, interference occurs and bright and dark spots were visible.
While other were not able to achieve the same because thier slit width were not appropriate to the young's experiment and the light doest not diffract from the slits/holes and interference pattern was absent.
Only wave can produce the interference pattern because it has crest and trough, which strongly proves the wave nature of light and provide the wave theory of light.
