Explain how bleaching fabric white, to make tees, affects all four earth spheres? Explain what impacts occur in each sphere and write one bullet per sphere please?
Answer:
The bleaching of fabric white affects the spheres of the earth in the following ways:
1. Hydrosphere
The toxic chemicals used in fabric industries such as polyvinyl chloride, chlorine, benzidine, toluene, etc., are carcinogenic. If the water containing these harmful chemicals is released from the factory untreated it will pollute the water source and will cause the death of several aquatic animals and humans who use water from the polluted source.
2. Atmosphere
The bleaching process releases several toxic gases such as chlorine dioxide, formaldehyde, ammonia which when released untreated will mix up with the atmospheric air leading to pollution. The toxic vapors will remain suspended in the air and will be carried from one place to another by wind and cause widespread pollution.
3. Lithosphere
The untreated water from the fabric factory when released into the water will get absorbed by the soil at the banks of the water source. The toxic substances penetrate deeply into the soil leading to soil infertility and toxicity. The land is not fit for agriculture anymore since the toxic chemicals can go into the plants grown on the land and can impact the food cycle.
4. Biosphere
Pollution impacts the ecosystem at various levels. For example, at the polluted water site, the aquatic ecosystem of the region is greatly impacted, the organisms will die as a result of ingestion of toxic water while for some the effect of toxic chemicals in the body might get carried on from generation to generation leading to long term damage.
