In-situ tests are tests that done on or in the soil at the site.Unconfined compression test is a test conducted in the lab to derive the Unconfirmed Compressive Strength of the specimen of the rock. This test is widely used in geotechnical work but does not represent the strength of in- situ. Since this test is conducted to the rock specimen, it does not involve testing of the soil properties in the site and this is the reason why it is not considered as in-situ test. Unconfined compression test provides information on the UCS of the rock specimen and it fails to get essential information for soil properties during the tests.
