Jake is one of your clients and he is worried about coming out. His family is very religious and he doesn't feel they will understand or accept him if he tells the truth. Jake is in a serious relationship and his partner is putting pressure on him to announce the relationship to both families.

• Jake is experiencing issues of sexual identity which can be referred to as closeted .He is going through a difficult time acknowledging his sexuality to his  family .He is also going through the fear of rejection incase he tells his family about his sexuality. He fears they might judge him and not understand him. He is  possibilities experiencing Anti homosexual attitudes which include homophobia .Closeted individuals cannot acknowledge their sexuality to others.
• As a  caregiver i can support him by being mindful of his situation and support him in his decision .I can also help him overcome the fear of rejection by putting him through a counseling program. I can also help Jake to overcome mental problems that come with the societal pressure the LGBT community comes across such as depression, anxiety among others. I can also help the family understand and accept Jake. I would also request his partner not to pressure Jake and to give him time to come out first then they can introduce the relationship.
