The increase in cyanobacterial blooms in water supplies around the globe calls for low-cost and reliable methods of predictive measures for imminent blooms. Cyanobacterial blooms are common in reservoirs and freshwater plants due to nutrient loading and elevated temperatures. According to Chirico (2020) et. al., cyanobacteria represent a significant fraction of the phytoplankton community, up to 60% as biovolume, and a shift in the phytoplankton community distribution towards cyanobacteria dominance 2010 and onwards. Assuming this could happen around various bodies of water around the globe, it is paramount to study how to prevent and lessen its implications. It is important to fund this study to protect and avoid a whole range of human health and environmental problems. Fish killed by anoxia caused by the decay of cyanobacteria biomass is one effect of cyanobacterial blooms. Another would be toxin release leading to a public health crisis.
