Does the economic shock caused by imposing the lockdowns prove more costs than the pandemic itself? Why or why not?
The lockdowns are costlier than the pandemic itself since we found out that the treatment of being infected with the virus is still how they would treat normal flu--rest, intake of more fluids than usual, vitamin c, flu medicines, and for more serious cases sometimes respirators are needed. However, the capitalist system had it coming since it has valued profitability for the past 100 years more than the health and services for the people. We found out that all over the world, governments are spending more on war than improving our health systems.
More light is being shed on this pandemic as people are now realizing that the pandemic is more of a business than an actual crisis. Lockdowns were done to make it seem like the disease is as serious as it sounds. But in reality there are more deaths caused by more known diseases such as malaria, dengue, etc.
The lockdowns are costlier since governments have impaired the usual supply-chain around the world. This in return gave capitalist economies to impose higher prices on basic commodities and needs for the "pandemic"
