Write a short note on norms. What will be an ideal response?

Norms, also referred to as social norms, are rules or standards of behavior shared by a social group. Norms can be internalized, i.e., within the individual, so that there is conformity without punishments or rewards. They are more specific than values as they define the course of action even better. It is a predetermined standard of behavior, opinion, or attitude that contributes to society's functioning as a whole. They are practical tools in dealing with commonly occurring social problems.
