Answer:

The importance of the events segment in the tourism sector is based on the start-up of various sectors of the economy, integrating a service network composed of by a series of chained values. The management of the flows of these chains is possible due to to logistics that streamlines and makes processes more flexible, providing a strategic vision for organizations. This article focuses on the methodological proposal of the value chain suggested by Porter (1999), aiming to map the logistics process of services in the event management. In the first place, the relationship between logistics and tourism in based on a bibliographic analysis. Then, a case study of the Dance Festival of Joinville (SC), using tools such as documents and semi-structured interviews, with the purpose of verifying the application of the proposed methodology. The result of the study allowed understand the logistics of the event by visualizing each process, its flow and the state of its development.

The object of study of this article is the Dance Festival Institute (IFD), located in the Municipality of Joinville, the largest city in the State of Santa Catarina (Brazil), and the main objective was map the chain of values ??of the referred event adopting the model as a reference base proposed by Porter (1999). Among the various events held throughout the year in the municipality, the most important is the Dance Festival which in 2008 had its 26th edition. It's one of the more complete dance events not only in Brazil but in Latin America. Collect more than 4.8 thousand direct participants and receives an audience of more than 200 thousand people, which positioned it in the 2005 Guinness Book as the World Dance Festival. Its programming is diversified offering courses, seminars, fairs, competitive exhibitions and presentations in open boxes (IFD

2007).

Step-by-step explanation

Explanation:

The logistics concept proposed by the Council of Supply Chain (2008) shows the need for proper administration of the movement of flows of goods, services and information, from the acquisition of inputs to their distribution.

Continuing in context, I consider that the value chain divides a company in its activities of strategic importance, to be able to understand the behavior of each process, as well as its flow of realization. That

procedure determines existing and potential sources of differentiation, which are strong competitive advantages. The event is divided into three phases, known as the pre-event, when the event is planned

action; trans-event, when the action is performed; and post-event, which is the conclusion phase.

This study focuses on the analysis of the logistics process of the Joinville Dance Festival. I know

conducted a qualitative research through a case study, this focuses on understanding the dynamics present in a singular context, trying to identify patterns and interrelations between the existing variables.

Human resources management presents a great challenge, since the team that manages the event is temporary hiring. In less than 60 days, the Dance Festival Institute goes from have 4 employees to have almost 200, who need training, training and time to adapt to the event processes. The input purchasing function is directly related to the selection process of all groups that participate in the Night Competitions and the presentations in Open Boxes. East process is done in less than 60 days. The teams attend the Dance Festival Institute with the recording of a choreography, which are evaluated and a selection of the best is made.

The selected groups are informed of the deadline for registration through the website. Each group is assigned a rehearsal schedule throughout the entire period of the event. In addition, the jury is hired to evaluate each team during the event. I also know invites authorities and businessmen. They must also take charge of the assembly and disarmament of the scenarios. Stage services are outsourced: lighting, sound,

cleaning, security and secretarial; as well as equipment and structures (external logistics).

Marketing and sales actions are increasingly focused on excellence. The event, due to its dimensions, it generates expectations in the participants who accompany the actions of the Dance Festival Institute throughout the year through the website. It should be noted that the volume entry to the site between the months of December and January was more than 30,000 entries per month, at a cost of 30 reais.

Competitive advantages are directly related to the constant improvement of the Dance Festival processes.

The processes of relations with suppliers should have as main objective to improve the flow of information favoring communication between them generating quality in services.

Final considerations for variables:

-Acquisition cost (local): 0 reais. (There is a mutual agreement with the Brazilian government to develop the festival for free, because it is an important source of entry for tourists and foreigners).

-Number of suppliers: Currently, there are 5 suppliers that have direct contact with the administration department. These are divided into:

  • Tailoring: Supplier of suits, fabrics, festive decorations, etc.
  • Environment: Sound equipment supplier.
  • Foods: Food and beverage provider to serve visitors and employees.
  • Security services: Provider that offers monitoring services during the event.

-Delivery times: All processes are carried out in a synchronized way. That is, from the moment of planning to the closing of the event, they must have established times in the schedule of activities. For protocol activities a maximum time of 1 hour is established and for more complex activities such as rehearsals of works, training and training with times not exceeding 4 hours.

-Inventory levels and rotation: As I said before, our inventory is based on the capacity of collaborators and assistants (human resources), approximately 200 people are calculated during the event.

-Relation of sales-inventory: The relationship of sales and inventory is considerable, each year an increase of 20% is estimated in income from ticket purchases and product consumption. In numbers, the sales / inventory ratio is 70/30.
