We are studying consciousness, but I want you to think of "altered states of consciousness" when we are not fully in tune to our environment.  These altered states may be ones that we purposely do or are the result of some environmental influence.  Sleep would be one of them, but we have already studied that so you can not use sleep or dreaming.  Think about it.  If you talk about an altered state, be sure you say what caused it, the amount of understanding it has from the environment, is it permanent or temporary, is it in our own control or not?  Have some fun with this and try to think of one that no one else has thought of, but make it legitimate!
