  • Create and adjust oral communication presentations for different channels, purposes, and audiences
  • Develop oral presentation skills to deliver presentations that meet organizational goals

Scenario

Your manager has asked that each person in your department select an emerging policy, practice, or process that is relevant to your career or professional development goals, and present it to the team in an informative, unbiased presentation to help the team learn more about a variety of career-relevant topics. Because this is intended as professional development, your manager has also asked that your presentation use a variety of scholarly and professional resources, which the team could use at a later date to learn more or stay informed.

Directions

Part I: Topic Title and Resources Select as your presentation topic a current or emerging policy, practice, or process that is relevant to your career or professional development goals. Then select at least five relevant resources to help you understand your selected topic.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

  • Topic Selection: Choose a relevant topic for your informative business presentation and explain how it relates to your career or professional development goals.
  • Intended Audience: Describe the intended audience for your presentation and explain:
    • How this topic is relevant for them
    • What they can learn from the presentation
  • Resource Selections: List at least five resources that you will use to support your presentation that meet the following requirements:
    • At least two resources are scholarly
    • Each resource is cited using APA style citations
    • Each resource is credible

Part II: Informative PresentationCreate and present an engaging, informative business presentation on your selected emerging policy, practice, or process that is relevant to your career or professional development goals. Your presentation should be 3–5 minutes, include 5–7 slides (not including your title and references slide), and include speaker notes for each slide.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

  • Purpose Statement: Thoroughly explain your selected emerging policy, practice, or process and how it is relevant to your career or professional development goals citing scholarly and professional resources to support your explanations.
  • Organization: Organize your presentation to include an introduction, body, and conclusion alongside their key components (examples include an “attention getter,” thesis statement, sub-points, statement of closure, etc.
  • Visual Aids: Use a variety of visual aids in your presentation that enhance the clarity of the content being presented and audience engagement, and are appropriate for social, cultural, and ethical considerations. Examples include charts, graphs, illustrations, photographs, and others as appropriate.
  • Language Use: Present information using clear, concise language; appropriate word choice for the audience, including social, cultural, and ethical considerations; and a professional tone.
  • Speakers Notes: Develop thorough speaker notes for each slide using the provided Presentation Speaker Notes Template that reflect the intended speech and can be used to guide the presentation.

What to Submit

To complete this project, you must submit the following:

Bongo Screen ShareSubmit a 3- to 5-minute audiovisual recording of your presentation using the Screen Share setting in Bongo. Make sure that your slides are the larger visual and your image, if shown, is smaller. Sources should be orally cited according to APA style.

Due to Bongo’s technical capabilities, downloading your presentation may result in two separate files (one for audio and one for video) as opposed to one file that includes both. If this occurs, please upload both files to Brightspace.

Speaker NotesSubmit speaker notes using the provided template. Sources should be cited according to APA style. It is suggested that you use your Informative Speech Outline from the Module Four discussion to assist you in the creation of your speaker notes.

PowerPoint PresentationSubmit a PowerPoint presentation of 5–7 slides (not including title and reference slides). Sources should be cited according to APA style.
