Rituals make part of a group’s identity. Gangs’ rituals bind them to their deeds. However, some of the rituals are passed down to new members to show solidarity and loyalty to the group’s activities and mission. This may not be the case for the physicians who are mostly bound by moral obligation defined by their code of ethics.
Gangs source for their identity by carrying out illegal activities. Most of their interactions serve the purpose of the group. This allows them to base their solidarity on the group. Physicians on the other hand could base their practices on the union activities. This allows them to schedule
Group identity is defined by a collective culture. However, Individualism results to a case where one is more focused about personal goals over the collective goals. A groups’ identity is induced from the group members’ contributions.
The Collective culture in gangs drives them to unlawful behavior. They define their social deeds based on the group’s identity. Gang activities vary from one community to another. Physicians on the other hand, are base their collective identity on their professional experience. This allows them to define their code of ethics that will be legal before the courts.
Gangs often engage in in acts related to use of force and unlawful behavior. Their collectivism is to cause harm to the locals. Gangs cause harm to the civic society unlike physicians. Physicians are bonded by educational training and union groups that represent its members. They sign an oath to protect human life unlike the gangs. Physicians are protected by the law in their practices and can sue in the court of law.
