Applying advanced formatting to objects
Open the file NP_PPT19_3a_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
Save the file as NP_PPT19_3a_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data files from the SAM website onto your computer:

With the file NP_PPT19_3a_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
PROJECT STEPS
As the owner of Trails, a mountain equipment store in Aspen, Colorado, you create a presentation for customers interested in exploring popular trails in the area. Begin by intensifying the impact of the picture on the title slide as follows:
Change the brightness and contrast of the picture to Brightness: +20%, Contrast: -20%.
Change the color tone of the picture to 11200 K.
With the title slide still displaying, convert the text "Aspen Trails" to a WordArt object , and then format the object as follows:
Apply the Fill: White; Outline: Dark Green, Accent color 5; Shadow (4th column 1st Row) WordArt style
Apply the Convex Bevel effect.
Transform the WordArt object with the Warp Up effect. [Mac Hint – Can Up effect.]
Position the WordArt object slightly above the waterline as shown in Figure 1.

With the title slide still displaying, insert the audio clip file Support_PPT19_3a_Audio.mp3, and then modify it as follows:
Position the audio clip in the lower right corner of the slide, to the right of "Presented by Trails Mountain Equipment".
Change the audio clip Start option to Automatically.
Select the Play Across Slides audio option.
Hide the audio clip object during the slide show.
On Slide 2 ("What We Do"), click "What We Do", open and use the Selection Pane to select Group 3 (the blue and yellow star shape), and then modify the star shape as follows:
Ungroup the star shape into two stars.
Merge the two stars into one shape using the Combine merge shape option.
With Slide 2 ("What We Do") still displaying, add more stars as follows:
Duplicate the star so that there are four stars.
Move one of the copied stars close to the bottom right corner of the slide.
Distribute the four stars Horizontally.
Align the four stars so that the tops are level with each other as shown in Figure 2.

On Slide 3 ("Trip Categories"), delete the SmartArt diagram.
With Slide 3 still displaying, insert a new SmartArt diagram as follows:
Insert a new SmartArt diagram using the Vertical Bullet List style.
Add two shapes to the SmartArt diagram.
Add a bullet to the shape you just added.
Enter text in the SmartArt shape as shown in Figure 3.

With Slide 3 ("Trip Categories") still displaying, continue to build and format the SmartArt diagram:
Move "Backpacking Trips" and its bullet above "Guided Climbs".
Demote "Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert" so that it appears as a bullet item under "Guided Climbs".
Change the height of the SmartArt diagram to 4.0".
Move the SmartArt diagram down so that it appears below and aligned horizontally with the slide title.
Apply the Polished SmartArt style in the 3D category.
Change the SmartArt colors to Colorful – Accent colors (1st column, 2nd row).
Add the alt text in the description box as follows:

On Slide 4 ("Day Hikes"), modify the drawing of the hiker:
Copy the picture and paste it.
Change the color of the copied picture to Washout (4th column, 1st row in the recolor palette).
Move the copied picture so that it appears just to the left of the first picture as shown in Figure 4.

On Slide 5 ("Backpacking Trips"), change the picture to Support_PPT19_3a_Camping.jpg and then format the picture as follows:
Change the color saturation of the picture to 200%.
Sharpen the picture by 25%.
With Slide 5 ("Backpacking Trips") still displaying, modify the lightning bolt shape as follows:
Change the lightning bolt shape to a Sun shape.
Fill the Sun shape with Yellow.
Add the alt text in the description area for the Sun shape as follows:

On Slide 6 ("Summer Backpacking Trips"), modify the column chart as follows:
Change the number of Three-Day trips in July to 7.
Add Summer Trips by Duration as the chart title.
Move the chart title so that it starts at the left edge of the chart.
Add a legend at the bottom of the chart.
Apply the Style 13 chart style.
Change the colors of the chart to Monochromatic Palette 5.
On Slide 7 ("Guided Climbs"), enhance the text "Beginner to Expert Climbs Available" as follows:
Apply the Glow: 8 point; Dark Green, Accent color 5 text effect (5th column, 2nd row).
Apply the Half Reflection: Touching text effect.
Apply Italic formatting to the text.
Move the text so that the bottom is even with the bottom of the picture.
With Slide 7 ("Guided Climbs") still displaying, apply the Plastic Wrap artistic effect to the picture.
On Slide 8 ("Distances"), insert a pie chart using the content placeholder and the data in Table 1. Delete any extra rows and columns.

With Slide 8 ("Distances") still displaying, modify the pie chart as follows:
Add Trip Category by Average Distance Covered as the chart title in the position above the chart.
Add data labels at the Outside End position.
Apply the Subtle Effect – Turquoise, Accent 1 (2nd column, 4th row) shape style to the data labels.
Change the font size of the data labels to 18 point.
Enhance the last slide in the presentation with a WordArt object as follows:
Move the WordArt object "Take to the Mountains" into the dark green space above the picture so that it appears centered between the left and right edges of the slide and the top of the slide and the top of the picture.
Change the text fill color to Dark Green, Accent 5, Lighter 80% (9th column, 2nd row).
Change the text outline to No Outline.
Apply the Perspective: Relaxed 3-D Rotation effect.
Apply the Half Reflection: 8 point offset effect.
In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
