Ravi’s job is to cut metal shafts for industrial pumps. It is a precision task where a minor error could result in the pump being useless. Ravi has been outstanding in what he does and he is well-known for the accuracy of his cuts. His bosses say he can be hours faster than anyone in readying his giant cutting machines to shift from making one type of pump shaft to another.

 

Management would like to incorporate Ravi’s knowledge into the manufacturing process but he refuses to share his secrets even with his fellow workers.

 

(a) Explain Ravi’s behaviour in terms of sources of power.
