What is another potential theory for filling the gaps of the life model when working with teens and or foster care?
Answer:
There is a lot of Theory that can apply for filling the gaps of life model when working with teens or foster care. But let us choose the most appropriate theory that fix to explain for the given question. Based on the research it is not easy to communicate with teens or child in foster care but if you are working or you are one of the social workers in one foster care, you will really understand the situation of every teenager that you encounter. Because it is not easy to be in their life, it is not easy growing up without your parents in your side the gap that they feel is the saddest story that you will hear from them. So let us now explain what should be the potential theory that suits and fulfill the gap of life model of a teenager or a child in foster care.
The one theory may fulfill the gap of the life of teenager or an child in foster care is the Vygotsky's Sociocultural Theory were on this theory is the teens explain that they should be learn from their own. Think of this, as a social worker working in foster care it is natural and given that you will provide the needs of those children especially the love and affection that they need starting from their small point of their life until in the biggest part of their life you are the one who always taking care of them because it is your passion and your job to take care of them with love and affection to one another.
Vygotsky's Sociocultural Theory that came from Lev Vygotsky explains that outlined three main concepts related to cognitive development: (i) culture is significant in learning, (ii) language is the root of culture, and (iii) individuals learn and develop within their role in the community. With these development he believe that learning occurred through interactions with others in our communities: peers, adults, teachers, and other mentors. Vygotsky sought to understand how people learn in a social environment and created a unique theory on social learning. Vygotsky believe by his Theory helps the person, teens or the child in foster care to learn on their own from relating their self from their environment, we know that is foster care every person taking care of them always showing the best behavior that they give because they know it is the thing that someday their children will do also. He determined that teachers have the ability to control many factors in an educational setting, including tasks, behaviors, and responses. As a result, he encouraged more interactive activities to promote cognitive growth, such as productive discussions, constructive feedback, and collaboration with others. Vygotsky also stated that culture was a primary determinant of knowledge acquisition. He argued that children learn from the beliefs and attitudes modeled by their culture.
By applying the Vygotsky's Sociocultural Theory it helps the teens to learn new things and fulfill the gap that they need by only learning from the things in their environment. From cultural significant learning, they will learn how to give importance to the culture what they have on that place, the norms that they need to apply and especially showing respect from the people around them. Also in this theory explain the language is the root of culture, applying this theory with the children helps them on how to communicate with other with the goof manner and right conduct. Learning how to read and write and being patience in learning new things especially the language that they are using in that place. Lastly, Vygotsky Sociocultural Theory helps them to learn individual and develop within their role in community. It is special thing that I said, We don't need to apply the theory that is already given from the person working with teens and in foster care area they already give the gap that they needed like parenting, love, affection, care etc. that they also need while they are growing up.
But in the race of life, the things that will fulfill the gap of life model is by letting them to learn things on their own, that you only need to do as the social worker is to guide them on how they learn from this. In the race of life, every person needs to learn things on their own for them if they are in the point of their life that they only have is themselves they will conquer every trials with their own strategy on how they can handle their life. This is the best Theory that will apply to fulfill the gap of life model or being promoting as well being person in life.
Therefore, applying Vygotsky's Sociocultural Theory helps every person to fulfill the gap of a well being person by learning things in your environment. It will teach you on how to communicate with other person with well mannered by showing them the right thing to do as social worker they had in their life, We know that they don't have parents or other relatives that can protect and care for them but only the people who has willing to love and take care for them, so as a person willing to help them being a good person when they grow you need to apply the theory of Lev Vygotsky that well explained above the importance of this. We as a person we also learn from our environment from our schools, friends, organizations especially from our family, many of us was very lucky for having family that will help us to be a better version for our self but how about them? It is a big adjustment from them because there is no one they can lean on if they are having downfall on their life, but we can help them by showing them the true beauty of life even if they are not completely complete but we can show and affect them that they are incompletely, complete.
