A consumer purchase is often an individual decision and there is very little scrutiny associated with it. This means when a consumer purchases a product for him/herself with their personal capacity then it is a completely individualistic decision. The purpose of the product is individual as well. However, the same cannot be said about purchases made at workplace.

At workplace, the purchases that we make are business purchases. There is always someone who can ask question about the reason behind a particular decision and our decision needs to be defendable. Not only this but the purchase made at workplace needs to make business sense. It should provide the best possible ROI. This means the people who purchase at work consider every purchase as high involvement purchase. There is more level of thoughts in making a purchase decision.

Thus the same person will unlikely follow the same purchase behavior at work and at home.
