Pretend you are a lobbyist working for an organization that is lobbying the Canadian federal government to reduce to voting age to 15. How would you go about lobbying the federal government? What access points would you target? How would you go about persuading the government to make this change?

 

First I would conduct a research to show that 15 year olds are willing and are supporting the right to vote at 15. You also need to get views form this age group as well as form other adults. The response must show that they are in support of your idea. You also need to include players such as Youth coalition who for example, can say that including young people ensures they are aware of politics and how it affects their lives as well as the country. Youth groups can also claim that voting form age of 15 helps them exercise their rights. I would also talk to several government officials who would be in support of the idea to help me push it. I would prove how the idea brings more positive impact to both the country and the young people.
