CIS 1322 Final Project

Your final project will be a two to four-page (not counting the cover page and reference page) written overview of what you have learned while completing this course. This project is designed to be a discussion of your experiences rather than just a retype of another document. You will also be required to demonstrate the skills you have gained while using Microsoft Word to provide both visual as well as written descriptions. A checklist will be provided at the end of this document to ensure you meet all of the requirements for this project.

Provide an overview of each of the skills that was demonstrated during each week of the course. This overview should include both a description of the skills that were discussed and used as well as a visual depiction of the skill, if possible. This does not mean that you need a paragraph for each week of the course but do need to include all information that can include several weeks in one paragraph if it is appropriate to your discussion. You should also explain how these skills are currently or can be helpful to you in the future. Do be sure to include all work that was completed.

You may use either MLA or APA to format this final project document. Your submission should start with a cover sheet to include the topic of the submission as well as identify you as the author if using APA. If using MLA, include your name, course number, instructors name and date at the beginning of the page. Additional help for formatting in either APA or MLA is easiest to find from the Purdue University OWL introduction.html. Then begin discussing the content for each week starting with the definition of word processing and how keyboarding skills improve the use of word processing applications as discussed in Week 1 and continuing on with a discussion of the topics for each week of the course. Use as many paragraphs as you feel necessary to adequately cover the information. Complete the submission by including a final reference or works cited sheet to show from where you obtained the content for your discussions. Submit the Final Project in Week 15 to complete the course requirements.

In order to show your Word skills, be sure to include the following items within the descriptions that you provide:

  1. Use of special keys and figures

  2. Use of MS Word shortcuts

  3. Correct use of letters and memos

  4. Table that compares use of at least 4 items to be compared

  5. Explanation of how to create a report

  6. Inclusion of at least two to three graphics and pictures in appropriate paragraphs to illustrate your discussions

  7. Importance of and how to proofread

  8. Information on how to work with long documents in Word

  9. Features that can be used to organize long Word documents

  10. Features that you learned about but didn’t know previously

  11. Any other content you would have liked to learn more about

This list will also serve as your checklist of content to be included.

Please be sure to ask questions in the assignment forum for Week 14 to ensure that you understand the requirements for this project. Asking questions in the forum will ensure that all students get the same information as often multiple students have the same question.
