Part 1 - Research a new technology and present a report via a WordPress website.

This part of the Assessment task is worth 20% of the total grade for this assessment task. The word count for this section is between 1000 - 2000 words.

Your task is to research a disruptive / emerging / new technology or a technology development with the aim of informing an audience who is not familiar with the technology. See module 3 to explore potential topics you could research for your assessment 2.

Select a topic from the following broader categories:

A disruptive / emerging technology relevant to a particular area (i.e. health, finance, cyber security, gaming).

A disruptive / emerging technology device.

A disruptive / emerging application or piece of software.

A theoretical idea or concept for a disruptive/emerging technology.

Before you decide on a topic, it is important that you research it and ensure that there are enough details available to complete the requirements of the assessment. Review the report requirements and marking rubric to understand the assessment criteria to ensure you pick an appropriate topic.

Make sure that you check the reliability of your reference before you use the information; generally, it is best to use information from reputable resources to complete your research. These resources can include academic journals (which can be found in the library), textbooks, academic web sites, manufacturers web sites, etc. All sources must be acknowledged in the reference sections of your submission.

All references should be presented in the Harvard Style of referencing, and it is expected that your reports will include a minimum of 5 references.

As mentioned above you will be producing a report presented via your WordPress website. The report should contain:

Section 1 ? General information
This section within your presentation should introduce your chosen topic. What is the technology? How does it work? What is the purpose of technology? Has it been created to addressing a security issue, equality issue, or poverty issues? The information that you provide here should be not contain technical jargon and should be appropriate for a non?technical audience.

Section 2 ? Technical information

The objective of this section is also to inform a more technical audience about the specific technological components of your selected topic. You should define the technologies components, how it works on a technical level, outlining its composition of relevant hardware and software. This section should not contain the same information that was presented in section 1, but rather expand on the information provided in a more technical manner.

Section 3 - Historical information
The objective of this section is to outline historical information that relates to the technologies development. What is the genesis of this technology development? What technology has it evolved from? Does it have origins from the Military/ Research/ Entertainment sectors?

Section 4 – Impact of Technology
This section should discuss and demonstrate how the technology will have an impact on society. What is the significance of the technology and how it will influence specific communities, larger society, or business? Reflect on the definition of disruptive and emerging technologies (module 3) to clearly define how and why your chosen topic is a disruptive or emerging technology. This section should also reflect your understanding of the technology and the context for which it is intended for use. The impact of your chosen technology could be measured by its social, economical, or environmental impact. Remember in order to provide a balanced answer you should consider both the positive and negative impacts for your selected technology.

Section 5 – Future Advancements AND/OR Future Application of the Technology
This section should discuss and use your understanding of technological developments to propose some informed ideas about the possible future developments and/or future applications that your selected technology might have. Simply put this section should cover the "where to next" for your selected technology. Within this section you can provide an overview of the potential for your selected technology to be further developed or applied within a new industry. This section can be based in your opinion and the options of others.

Section 6 ? Reference section
You should also add all the relevant references for the information and other content used within your presentation in a bibliography format. All references should be presented in the Harvard style of referencing. Please refer to the “Reading List” folder in the Resources section for the help on how to present your references in the Harvard referencing style. You are required to find at least 2 references which come from either research databases or Journal articles.

Please Note: As this is an electronic document you are not bound to a physical A4 page instead you are creating an on?screen document. You should not limit yourself to text and graphics as you will also be able to make use of other appropriate multimedia context within your presentations. You should consider including audio, video, and web links within your Assignment 2 submission, to support your text based content.

A technology can be considered disruptive even if it applies only to one particular field/industry. This field could be related to your career interest.
