Example of Ati the active learning template disorder for anxiety?
So we have a patient who has anxiety disorder, he is worrying, has fast heart rate and shakiness (this is the diagnosis).
The pathophysiology has to do with norepinephrine, serotonin, dopamine and gamma-aminobutyric.
For health promotion and disease prevention, we need to tell him to change his lifestyle, have counselling and take some medications like antidepressants.
Risk factors include child abuse, family history and poverty.
Expected findings were headache, sweating, muscle spasms, tachycardia, palpitations and hypertension. These are common findings in anxiety.
So we need to perform some laboratory tests, like blood sugar levels (too high or too low sugar can affect mood), thyroid test (thyroid problem affects mood) and comprehensive metabolic panel (it will check electrolytes as an imbalance of them affects mood, and also it will check if kidneys and liver work proper)
In diagnostic procedures, we need to add in total what was performed as diagnosis, so physical examination, blood test and history of medications (certain medications can affect mood and cause depression etc).
Regarding nursing care, a nurse needs to create a comfortable environment for the patient, make some questions regarding his anxiety, and proper care of patient when his stress levels are high.
In therapeutic procedures we can add only cognitive behavior therapy which is the first line and only treatment (other treatment includes medications so it will be added on the next field)
Medications, we need to give prescribe to patient antidepressants, antianxiety drugs like buspirone and benzodiazepines that are short term relief.
Regarding the client education, we must tell him to have a better lifestyle thus stay active, avoid drinking alcohols, taking drugs and consuming caffeine.
Interprofessional care has to do with what kind of doctors assessed them, he had a psychologist consult and a psychiatrist consult.
In safety considerations we add that assessment of alcohol is important for anxiety and if there is a history of abuse it can be a problem when giving benzodiazepines as it can make him worst. And we need to see if he is causing harm on his self.
Last but not least, complications for our patient were headaches, problems with concentration at school/work, insomnia, fast heart rate and trembling (shaking).
