Research how carburetors and fuel injection systems create an example of proper air/fuel mixture in the internal combustion engines of cars and trucks. Prepare an example of a poster that presents what you have learned in the form of diagrams and flow charts.
A carburetor is differentiated from a fuel injection system based on the principle that for a carburetor the fuel is usually drawn from a tank while for the fuel injection system, the fuel is pumped using a pump that is installed in the tank. The fuel in the compressor is delivered to the combustion chamber and later utilized in an internal combustion engine of the car or trucks when sufficient supply of air is reached. In a carburetor, the air supply to the combustion chamber is controlled using a throttle valve at the end of the cylinder. The fuel is then drawn from the fuel tank through float chamber and when a rich stoichiometry of fuel-air mixture is attained, combustion occurs in the combustion chamber ignited by ignition system. For fuel injection system, the atomized homogenous fuel is delivered to the combustion chamber using fuel injection nozzle. The fuel supply is controlled by the Engine control unit where it allows the amount required to cause ignition for every stoke. Throttle valve controls the amount of air such that ignition occurs when the right amount of fuel-air mixture is attained.
The dangers of engine fuel combustion when the right mixture of air-fuel is attained outside the engine are represented in the attached pictures.
Step-by-step explanation
Fuel lean and fuel rich are terms describing the fuel-air mixture used in car and truck engines. The designs of the various types and their mechanical conditions affects the ratio of fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber. At the optimal conditions, approximately the ratio of 15:1 air:fuel is achieved resulting to combustion.
Below are posters to demonstrate the dangers of engine fuel combustion when the right mixture of air-fuel is attained outside the engine.
