A government policy refers to a rule or even a principle that is given out to guide decisions in order to enhance positive results for the common good of a either a community or even a unit. Government policies outlines reasons behind why things are to be done in a certain manner. They give a description of a course of action hence creating starting point for the process of change.

Government policies have had a lot of impact on policies of different organizations. For instance, in the business organizations, government policies on increase of taxes so as to minimize the number of competing businesses and ensure quality products in the private sector has had negative impact on policies of the business. For example, in the recent past, I was working in a private sector as a receptionist when the government gave out policies on increase in taxes for the private organization based on performance and the number of people served by the organization. This brought about a negative impact in the policies of the organization where there was an immediate need for change in policies concerning compensation for various staff in the organization. As a result, the organization was obliged to come up with procedures for calculating compensation for different employees as well as the amount of deductions to be done for every employee in order to cater for the payment of taxes to the government while at the same time taking care of the welfare of the employees at different ranks and maintaining quality standards.
