M2SAT-5

RESULTS:

To determine your attitude about people at work, add up the numbers (0 to 5) for the first statement in each pair. (It is not necessary to add up the numbers for the second statements.) The total should be between 0 and 50.

Place your score on the continuum below.

0 ------- 5 -------- 10 ------- 15 ------- 20-------- 25 ------- 30 ------- 35 ------- 40 ------- 45 ------- 50

THEORY X THEORY Y

Generally, the lower the score, the greater your Theory X attitudes, and the higher your score, the greater your Theory Y attitudes.

ANALYSIS:

What did you think of the outcome of this self-assessment test? Were you totally surprised or do you generally agree with the results? Do you tend to have Theory X attitudes or Theory Y attitudes? In a one-page (maximum) argument, explain in more detail the meaning of these scores to you. Take a look at Chapter Two for additional information regarding this self-assessment test. Make at least three assertions about the meaning(s) of this self-assessment test to you and support them with example(s). Write a convincing case that presents a strong defense for your argument.

After taking the survey and completing your analysis, be sure to submit your assignment response using the Self-Assessment Test Submittal Tool. Please submit each response for Self-Assessment Tests due this week using a separate copy of the form, available on the Module 2 introduction page.

Please do not forget to include references/citations in your work.

M2SAT-6

RESULTS:

To determine your ethics score, add the numbers 1 to 4 in each of the first 25 statements. Your total should be between 25 and 100. The continuum below represents your ethics score. The higher your score, the more ethical is your behavior and vice versa for lower scores.

25 ------------ 30 ------------- 40 ------------ 50 ------------ 60------------- 70 ------------ 80 ------------ 90 ---------- 100

ANALYSIS:

Ethics is an extremely sensitive topic. The definition and the parameters of ethical behavior are very specific to each person in the workplace. While some behaviors are black and white in terms of ethics, there are other behaviors that are gray in definition and/or in action. If you are going to be a successful leader in the workplace, you must exhibit ethical behaviors at all times to those around you. It is also a good idea outside of work to approach decision-making concerning choices that involve ethical behavior in the same manner. Many people struggle with decisions that involve ethics. Finally, ethical behavior – good or bad --is part of your workplace reputation. Keep in mind that if you ever lose a good reputation, it will be extremely difficult for others to restore their faith and trust in you. A good reputation is one of those intangible attributes in life that is priceless.
