The ARD is a certain meeting that teachers and other support staff bring their expertise on education and one brings his expertise on his child - their needs, abilities, and desires, and his expectations. When there is a child with disabilities or suspected disabilities, who requires education, evaluation must be conducted by people with specialized knowledge and training in the area that is related to the child's disability, the school will use the evaluation results in planning IEP services and placement so that it can meet the child's needs. When there is a disagreement the Independent Educational Evaluation should be made available to parents so that it can help to answer questions about correct special education services and placement. A parent requesting for an Independent Educational Evaluation can be made available during an ARD meeting hence making sure that the request of a parent is documented in the notes of ARD discussions. The correct procedure is for a parent to make a request for the IEE in writing to either the school principal or to the special education representative who is responsible for the campus of the child.
