For this assignment I have to do big 5 personality test which I have already don and I have the results:
1- Openness = 50%
2- Conscientiousness = 90%
3- Extraversion = 73%
4- Agreeableness = 83%
5- Neuroticism = 35%
And below is what professor is asking:
1. Discuss the positive and negative aspects of your Big 5 results on each dimension and how this may affect the way you carry out your work and task. For example, if you got 75% on agreeableness, what is the positive and negative implication of this score when you work?
If you have work experiences, please use your past experiences to support your arguments. If you do not have work experiences, then you can search from references or use school examples.
2. Imagine that you are promoted to a managerial role. Based on your Big 5 results, determine what you think would be the best management style for you. Based on research, why do you think a particular management style you chose is the "best fit" for your personality (based on the Big 5 results)? The purpose of this question is for you to apply your Big 5 results into a managerial setting.
1. (Answer)
*openness = 50% - this gives a positive result in a work set-up because if you are open to everything chances are people will feel that you trust them because you tell them everything. You somehow encourage honesty to be the center of yoyr working environment. However, the negative implication of openness is you are kore prone to betrayal. People will always take advantage of you and the information you give them.
*Consciousness = 90% - Being a conscious leader means you are goal drieven and work oriented person. High consciousness will lead to a successful leadership because you are focused on what you want to achieve, how you want to achieve it and finish it as soon as possible. The only negative implication of this consciousness is that you abhor mistakes as if there is no room for it and you put moral pressure on the people you work with.
*Extraversion = 73% - high extraversion is a good characteristic of a leader or a team player. It means that you can easily blend and relate with other people. You can easily communicate with them and you make people more at ease with you which makes the working environment easy to deal with. But on the other hand, extraversion has also a negative implication like not being anle to give unbiased judgement due to personal emotions which will compromised the result of work youre dealing. Also, being too extrovert would make other people no comfortable with your presence maybe because of intimidation.
*Agreeableness = 83% - Being agreeable means you are generally wanted by people. The only downside of this trait is that you look for validation from other people because you always want to please them when in fact we can't always please everybody.
*Neuroticism = 35% - it's good to have a low neuroticism trait because this trait are way too focused on emotional aspect that could easily shake you as a person. The advantage of this is that you are known to have an emotional depth but again, being too emotional is bad.
2. (Answer)
- According to my big 5 result, my best trait is conscientiousness. It a good managerial skill because I am focused on how to get the work done the soonest possible. Also, conscientiousness includes honesty and integrity. This kind of trait is mostly concerned on the overall vision of the company which is good to decision making and strategic planning. Being conscientious also promotes being self-driven and not easily decides without a reasonable and foreseeable outcome.
