the me too development is a movement against sexual abuse and harassment where people publicize sexual harassment by prominent and powerful people. it first appeared on social media in 2006 by a sexual survivor miss burke. these led to firing of highly profile people.

feminism and women's rights movements have undergone three waves.

• the first wave was by the middle or upper class white women and it involved women suffrage and political equality.
• the second wave attempted to combat social and cultural inequalities. this second wave of feminism brought in women of color and women from other developing countries that were seeking solidarity.
• the third wave still continues to address issues of social, political and cultural inequalities.

some of the successes the movements has brought include

• the equal pay and they gained access to jobs that were considered for men and employers that discriminated women were authorized to increase the number of women that worked in their work places this was backed by the equal employment opportunity commission in 1965
• employers were barred from firing pregnant women
• women studies programs were created in colleges and universities.
• divorce laws were liberalized.
• in 1972 congress passed title ix of the higher education act, which prohibited discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program being funded by federal funds.

even with so much achievements the feminism movements had some failures which included

• there was a division between the women on the issue of abortion. the feminists for life fervently agreed on the women's rights but disagreed on the issue of abortion.
• feminists were targeted as the main culprits behind the rising numbers of teenage pregnancies and the rise in spread of AIDS following the sexual revolution.
