When a narrative or essay of some kind is written from an outside perspective.
When writing in third person you will not refer to yourself (as in, i/me/myself/my) but rather, you're talking about someone else.
Example: "She went to the store." This sentence is in third person because I am talking about where SHE went, not where I went. It's all kind of dependent on the pronoun.
Does that make sense?
