In the Gettysberg address define Lincoln's basic moral and political principles as reflected by his statement that

America shall have "a new birth of freedom," what does that mean and how does that relate to slavery?

 

A new birth freedom meant the reconstruction during the civil war. And during war started the efforts of the nation to come to terms with destruction of slavery and to define the real meaning of freedom (Yoshino, K. (2015). By the end of the war it was clear already that reconstruction will bring far reaching changes in the southern society ad also a redefinition of the black in the American people.

At the outset of the war the Lincoln administration insisted that the only option was to restore the union. But as slaves by the thousands left the plantation and led towards the Union lines and military victory fled the North, the Lincoln administration slavery destruction a war in an Emancipation Proclamation that was announced in January 1863. This proclamation also gave authorization for the enlistment of black soldiers (Yoshino, K. (2015).

In Lincolns mind he thought that it is slavery that brought even though many people debated the causes of the civil war. Lincoln means that once the war has come to end finally, the nation will be thriving under a notion that all men are created equal and new freedom will be there once the war is over and slavery eliminated.

They fought for the nation, stood for what they believed in and gave their lives so as for slavery to be abolished that is for slavery to come to an end. Lincoln bought this section of the national character into the sharpest focus and the new idea of freedom of birth is to just simply free the slave, the idea that are men are actually free (Yoshino, K. (2015).
